Sports

From Kindergarten 1, where students begin the process of fundamental skill development in a fun, yet challenging environment, to the Senior School who represent the school at local, national and international level sport is an integral part of school life at STIS.

Lessons are taught by an experienced, fully committed specialist staff member, who share the same philosophy of installing a lifelong love of sport and physical activity in their students. It is the goal of the PE department that all students make progress and are given the chance to experience a range of opportunities both within and beyond the curriculum.

All students are encouraged to display teamwork, respect and a positive attitude towards PE and Sport. Students learn to win, and lose, gracefully, and are given the tools to reflect upon and evaluate their own and others performances. This understanding is further developed through students fulfilling a variety of roles to enhance their leadership capabilities.
Extra-curricular clubs play a huge part in a student’s life at BST. We offer a diverse range of activities with training before, during and after school, helping to maximize participation from students at all levels. These are offered on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.

Student council

At STIS we believe students have a voice and a contribution to make to our school. It is important that they be given the opportunity to express their views on issues of concern to them in the school. It is equally important that they are listened to and encouraged to take an active part in promoting the STIS Mission and Core Values.
Elected by the student body, the STIS Student Council includes the President amongst other elective positions and representatives for each class.

Working directly with the Principal and Head of Pastoral, the STIS Student Council meets on a bi-monthly basis in their role to:

• represent the interests of all students.
• promote student-teacher understanding.
• participate in community affairs that concern, involve, or affect our students; and above all,
• to encourage students to become involved in the educational and social activities of STIS.

Through projects and activities, student councils work to:

• PROMOTE CITIZENSHIP
• PROMOTE SCHOLARSHIP
• PROMOTE LEADERSHIP
• PROMOTE HUMAN RELATIONS
• PROMOTE CULTURAL VALUES

Student Council members are expected to uphold, promote and support the goals, objectives and mission of the school, serve as a role model, leader and voice for the students.
This year, the activities of the Student Council has included organising donation and fund-raising projects to help children in need, supporting student well-being initiatives, as well as assisting in school sporting and cultural activities.

Trips

Educational trips at STIS can be divided into two categories namely:

Day Trips & Residential Trips.

Day Trips:

Day trips are linked to the curriculum which they students are currently. These trips promote the diversity of the chosen international curriculum as well as giving students an opportunity to link theory and text from the academic textbooks with local example, thus making the learning more practical. Day trips are also encouraged through the Thai Language and Culture (TLC) curriculum. This way Thai students can learn about this culture and national heritage by seeing local communities and how they integrate into their nation – Thailand.

Residential Trips:

Residential trips focus on taking the students again on an educational experience which also had undertone of academic experiences built into what they have been studying in the classroom to what is around their community and country. Students get to spend anything from between 2 – 4 days away from school enjoying the camaraderie within their own grade as well as the communities they visit. Residential trips start in Grade 4 and go all the way through to Grade 12.

As all trips are linked to the respective curriculum, they are also linked to students activities, academic worksheets and evening activities which allow the students to reflect on what they have learnt prior to the trip, as well as on the trip itself. Not all trips are without their fun experiences as learning needs to be fun. Student enjoy the local experiences in the environment they visit as we believe at STIS that learning should not only be enriching, but also FUN!

Clubs

Clubs are yet another extra-curricular activity which is offered to the students of STIS. The brings a different perspective to our students’ development. If students are not wanting to participate in all the sporting activities, we believe that it is important to offer students to opportunity to explore different talents during their club times. Clubs range from cultural aspects of Thai dance, through to music and drama clubs. Clubs celebrate diversity and this is at the core of developing the whole child at STIS.
A full range of clubs is available each semester and students make their choices accordingly.

More on this COMING SOON!

Cultural celebrations

Even though STIS is an international school, we pride ourselves that we still place high emphasis on Thai culture and religious celebrations. Throughout the year, events are held to celebrate certain dates or commemorate the passing of people who have added to the culture of prosperity of Thailand.

Furthermore, we also recognize that as we live in a Buddhist country, and that most of our school is practice the Buddhist faith, that it is important to also observe important religious days throughout the year. To this end, we also invite Monks into certain assemblies to offer alms to them.

It is our goal at STIS to not only offer an international curriculum, but also balance that with meaningful cultural experiences.
